10gen and Kumoya Announce Strategic Partnership

PALO ALTO, CA and TOKYO--(Marketwire - Jun 28, 2012) - 10gen and Kumoya, Inc. (Kumoya), today announced a strategic partnership under which Kumoya will become an authorized 10gen distributor in Japan. Through this distributor agreement, Kumoya will market and sell 10gen's MongoDB products and services, including MongoDB Commercial Subscriptions, with a 24 x 7 production support service and commercial license for the Subscriber Edition.

MongoDB is the leading NoSQL database helping more than one hundred thousand users quickly and easily code, scale and operate applications. MongoDB bridges the gap between RDBMS and key-value stores -- instead of storing data in tables and rows, MongoDB stores data in documents with dynamic schemas. Global companies relying on MongoDB for storage of their application data include Craigslist, Disney, eBay, Forbes, foursquare, Intuit, O2, Shutterfly, Telefonica and UK Government Digital Services.

"We welcome this strategic partnership with Kumoya as they work to establish cloud computing leadership in Japan," explains Erik Frieberg, vice president of Marketing and Alliances at 10gen. "With more than 700 members in the local MongoDB User Group community and some of the top technology titans in Japan listed as production users, this collaborative effort will allow us to better address customer needs in this growing market."

Kumoya is on the forefront of cloud service technologies, expanding the market for complementary cloud stack tools. In collaboration with 10gen, Kumoya will add dedicated technical resources and perform MongoDB community and business development activities to strengthen MongoDB's Japan presence and address growing demand for enterprise-class NoSQL technology. Upcoming programming includes educational events and hands-on training for MongoDB professionals.
