MongoDB Workshops

We are offering two in-depth, hands-on MongoDB workshops a day before MongoDB Austin. These workshops are perfect for jump starting your knowledge and use of MongoDB. Each session is led by a 10gen engineer and limited to 15 students per teacher to ensure each student receives individual attention from a MongoDB expert.

Workshop Admission

Admission to each workshop session (one 3 hour session) includes registration&meal prior to the workshop, coffee and refreshments all day, complimentary wifi and admission to the Open Shift free lab during lunch, as well as admission to MongoDB Austin on Feb 15.

Expectations

Since the workshops are short, participants should have MongoDB and the necessary drivers installed prior to class. Participants arriving more than 20 minutes late will not be allowed to join.

Class fees are not refundable, creditable, or transferable 48 hours prior to the start of the class.

Schema Design

Effective uses of MongoDB often requires data organization that's different from what one finds with other databases, for reasons that range from performance to flexibility to architecture. This workshop will focus on patterns of MongoDB document design, and how they relate to application deployment architectures. Topics to cover will include migration from the relational mindset, techniques for taking advantage of asynchronous replication, shard key selection strategies, and more!

Building Spatial MongoDB Apps in The Cloud

This workshop will teach you how to take advantage of MongoDB's spatial indexing support as you build your own cloud-hosted app on OpenShift, Red Hat's Open Source platform as a service. OpenShift aims to provide Mongo developers with the ability to use a wide variety of programming languages, and offers MongoDB command line access, and integrated support for installing RockMongo in a single command. By the end of this session you will have all the information necessary for writing your own location based app.

Operation Hands On

Do you need to grow a replica set? Migrate servers to different hosts? Repair a deployment after hardware failures? If so, then this workshop is for you. Attendees will work through several model operational scenarios, covering both planned and unplanned maintenance tasks, backups and recovery processes, responding to database growth requirements, and more!
