Consulting FAQ

So, what sort of consulting services do you offer?

We can help with protoyping, designing, developing, and deploying your MongoDB application. Typically, we work with clients on things like application and schema design, query optimization, benchmarking, scaling, deployment architecture, etc. Our services are usually advisory, with the goal of helping you build higher in-house expertise.

What does a typical engagement look like?

It really depends on what you need. And we're flexible. Sometimes we work with clients for an hour or two a week over their development cycle. On other projects, we've been hands on for sustained period of time.

Is there a minimum number of hours?

No. In fact, if you'd like some help for just an hour or two, you can signup for a lightning consult and get started today.

Do you write code as part of these engagements?

Our consultants are developers. However, we don't think of ourselves as a project shop, but rather as offering database advisory services. We are happy to write some code but usually we do not "own" development of the entire application project. Several consulting firms who do this sort of work are listed on the www.mongodb.org web site.

Do you work on-site?

We usually work with clients by phone, skype, email, and chat, but if it makes sense, we can come to you.

Do you have resources available?

We can usually start within a few days.

Is it really that simple?

Yes! Just let us know how many hours you will need over what time period and we can get started.

What do you charge?

Our rate is $300 per hour for lightning consults and custom consulting. The MongoDB health check is $3000 for 8-10 hours.
